Francesca Leone. Take Your Time
April 23 – November 27, 2022
Nomas Foundation, Venice
How does it feel – if giant flowers hang above your head? In blue, yellow, purple, shifting between delicacy and weight.
If the floor is turned upside down giving sight to cigarette stubs, glitter paper, and chewing gum? In otherwise complete sterility.
If you walk towards the light (the sky); and back again?
If stalagmites and stalactites raise and fall in front of you? Fragile and monumental at the same time, autonomous and approachable?
Or if huge paper sheets fall from the top like drying laundry? Crumpled yet plain as if halted in the wind.

Francesca Leone’s sculptures carry all this, combining the fragility of paper with the solidity of metal, and the emotion of colour.
I sometimes wonder whether contemporary art is about creating unfamiliar, odd, surreal situations. Francesca Leone’s installation Take Your Time gives you the opportunity of experiencing all the situations described above. And the poetics within.

[…] A slow exhibition. The images open up only step by step. They seem to glow from the inside. […]
