Review
Fred Sandback/Rebecca Horn. The Peacock Machine
June 11 – August 27, 2022
Galerie Thomas Schulte, Berlin

Until August 27, 2022, Galerie Thomas Schulte shows installational works by Fred Sandback and The Peacock Machine by Rebecca Horn. Two outstandingly simple/simply outstanding exhibitions, two outstandingly complex artists.

I stretch the loom, like when I was a little girl. Choosing the colour, creating a pattern.
I draw the lines, following the angles; aka geometry lesson.
I measure the distance, weight the balance.

The image shows a white room with threads stretched between the floor and walls. It is an installation view of Fred Sanback's exhibition at Galerie Thomas Schulte in Berlin, 2022.

Tension. Childhood, precision, and play.

I stretch the bow. And prepare the battle for a simple understanding of beauty.

A peacock, a sun, a Venus shell, a halo, a crown. A machine. Objects as poetry, performance as mindful rebellion, the body as weapon and battlefield.

Aka: Rebecca Horn.

The images shows a sun-shaped technical construction. It is a detail of the art work "Peacock Machine" by Rebecca Horn.
