Lita Albuquerque. Liquid Light
April 23 – November 27, 2022
bardoLa, OLIVOLO, Venice

A woman dressed in yellow, tall, blond hair, bringing Sun to the world. The light she offers is being refused, the people look skeptical and intimidated. By the otherworldness of her appearance.

A lake, frozen. A woman dressed in silver, her blond hair this time with a whiteish touch. A dance, vastness; like a tense void, a new thing in creation. Again: Otherworldness.

A second woman, mother and daughter; intimateness and timidity at the same time, like a wise lesson to be learnt.

The music is captivating, the multi-screen installation both visually and physically embracing. Though the term is overexposed: it’s immersive.

The image shows a room with brick walls and various glass balls filled with water on the floor. It is an image from the exhibition Lita Albuquerque.Liquid Light presented by bardoLa in Venice, 2022.

Glass balls, coloured, lying on the floor, like drops. A vast golden bowl, hanging on the wall. Liquid Light.

Lita Albuquerque’s exhibition takes you on a journey, to a time and place yet unknown, “… a time between the material and the sacred … the vision of our future for us to see.” An emotional message transmitted through sound, visuals, colour, form, and light. “A functional cosmology for 21st century culture.”

Quotes from the artist’s statement and exhibition’s press release.
